Cookies that collect or process Personal Data are subject to the same legal requirements as any other form of personal data processing under Ugandan law.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites function efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the website operators.
Similar technologies include web beacons, pixels, local storage (HTML5), and session storage, which function in comparable ways. References to "cookies" in this Policy include all such technologies.

3. Your Consent and Control
3.1 In accordance with the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, we obtain your consent before placing any cookies that are not strictly necessary for the operation of the Platform.
3.2 When you first visit the Platform, you are presented with a clear notice about our use of cookies and asked to accept or configure your preferences.
3.3 You may withdraw or modify your consent at any time by:
- Browser Settings: Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking essential cookies may impair Platform functionality.
- Clearing Local Storage: You can clear localStorage and sessionStorage data via your browser's developer tools or settings.
- Contacting Us: Email suites.support@advocates-connect.com to request a reset of your cookie preferences.
3.4 Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred prior to withdrawal.
4. Local Storage and Session Storage
4.1 In addition to cookies, the Platform uses browser localStorage and sessionStorage to store functional preferences (theme, firm branding, authentication tokens). These operate similarly to cookies but are not transmitted with HTTP requests.
4.2 Data stored in localStorage persists until explicitly cleared. Data in sessionStorage is automatically cleared when the browser tab or window is closed.
4.3 All data stored via these mechanisms is subject to the same privacy protections described in our Privacy Statement.
5. Third-Party Cookies
5.1 Certain third-party services integrated with the Platform may set their own cookies. These include:
- Google (Authentication): Cookies set during Google SSO login. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- PesaPal (Payments): Cookies set during the payment process on the PesaPal payment page. Governed by PesaPal's privacy policy.
5.2 We do not control third-party cookies. Users are encouraged to review the privacy policies of these third-party services.
6. Do Not Track Signals
6.1 The Platform respects "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals sent by your browser. When a DNT signal is detected, we will not set analytics cookies or track browsing behaviour beyond what is strictly necessary for Platform operation.
7. Cookie Data Retention
7.1 Cookie data is retained only for the periods specified in the cookie tables above. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies are retained for their stated duration or until you manually delete them.
7.2 Analytics data derived from cookies is aggregated and anonymised within thirty (30) days of collection and retained in anonymised form for up to twenty-four (24) months.
8. Children
8.1 The Platform is not directed at individuals under eighteen (18) years of age. We do not knowingly use cookies to collect data from children. If we discover that cookies have been used to collect data from a child, we will promptly delete that data.
9. Changes to This Cookie Policy
9.1 We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. Material changes will be communicated via notice on the Platform.
9.2 We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
